BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine show has extolled the value of community pharmacist expertise when it comes to patients understanding their prescriptions.
During a phone-in section this week advising people on what questions to ask their GPs when they were prescribed a new drug, Dr Sarah Jarvis, the show's resident doctor, told listeners that community pharmacy was a good place to seek advice. "This is a big plug for your local, friendly community pharmacist," she said. "They are the experts on the when and how you take your medicines. The GP can discuss why you take them."Â
The segment discussed the most asked questions about prescriptions which included PIL side effect information, drug interactions and drug sell-by dates.Â
