IBS red flags

IBS symptoms can change, but signs and symptoms that need to be discussed with the doctor include:⁵

· new symptom onset at age 50 or over
. blood in the stool – fresh red blood or the stool having a black, tarry appearance
anaemia
fever
unexplained weight loss
fever, shaking chills, or night sweats
nighttime symptoms that wake the person up, such as diarrhoea
changes in the usual IBS symptoms
