Differential diagnoses should consider also consider the possibility of other conditions also being present, including:³

·      -  disorders of intellectual development, learning or motor coordination;

·     -  autism spectrum disorder;

·      - mood, anxiety or fear-related disorders;

·    -   personality disorders;

·    - disorders arising from substance misuse (eg alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, stimulants);

·     - effects of prescribed medication (eg anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, bronchodilators, thyroxine);

·     - attentional symptoms due to other medical conditions (eg thyroid conditions or sleep-wake disorders).
