GSK UK Pharmaceuticals is to change its current Direct to Pharmacy model to a Reduced Wholesaler model from 1 November 2018, with PHOENIX UK being one of three companies selected to distribute GSK’s prescription medicines to community pharmacies, hospitals and dispensing doctors throughout the UK.
Commenting on GSK’s decision Steve Anderson, group managing director PHOENIX UK, said: “GSK’s decision will be warmly welcomed by all our dispensing customers as it will provide them with greater convenience when ordering the GSK prescription medicines they need for their patients.â€
Numark managing director Jeremy Meader commented: “This is an historic move by GSK that will ultimately be incredibly positive for community pharmacy. Times are tough and recognition of the challenges faced by pharmacy by increasing access to a wider range of prescription medicines through PHOENIX will help deliver consistency in service and increase patient loyalty whilst helping them to more effectively and efficiently fulfil their role on the front line of healthcare.â€
