Pharmacist Support expands #GoGreen4PS 2018

Pharmacist Support's annual #GoGreen4PSfundraising campaign is now to run for a whole month, kicking off on World Pharmacists Day (25th September) and running till the end of October.

The usual week-long campaign aims to bring the pharmacy community together and to raise money to help fund vital services for pharmacists, former pharmacists, pre-registration trainees and MPharm students in need of support.

“This year we’re aiming to go even bigger and Greener!” commented Pharmacist Support’s chief executive Diane Leicester-Hallam.

“We’re calling on everyone within the profession to show their support, get involved, get creative and most importantly to have fun and help raise money to support their colleagues facing challenging times. Our goal this year is to raise £10,000 which will help us to continue to provide our free and confidential support to those who need it most, long into the future.”

In recent years the charity has seen increasing numbers of people accessing their services with demand showing no signs of slowing down. In 2017 the charity provided over 4,700 acts of support to individuals in the profession, with enquiries up 32% on the previous year. Inevitably these increases have required an additional investment in resources.

As a non-membership organisation, the charity relies on the support of individuals and organisations in order to continue to deliver its free and confidential services.

The charity has put together a range of #GoGreen4PS fundraising ideas and resources to help those taking part raise as much money as possible.

Resources include a fundraising brochure, poster, donation box, bunting, balloons, quiz questions and games.

They are also encouraging supporters to help raise awareness via social media by joining their ThunderClap – a crowd-speaking platform that allows a single message to be mass-shared, flash mob-style – and by adding a twibbon to their social media profile pictures.
