Perrigo puts spotlight on sleep disorders

Perrigo is running a series of seminars across the country to help pharmacies learn about the impact of sleep deprivation on the health of their communities.

Kicking off on April 25, the free seminars will outline how pharmacists can recognise and rule out sleep disorders, as well as identify the cause of sleep issues and the impact on physical health, mental health and patient safety.

The seminars will also discuss how pharmacists can recognise the inter-relationship between sleep, pain and mental health. This can affect treatment choices and help more people address their sleep problems through understanding sleep treatments and advice.

The training seminars will take place at the following locations:

25 April – Wolverhampton
1 May – Preston
2 May – Birmingham
3 May – Manchester
8 May – Leicester
9 May – Edgware London
10 May – Ilford
14 May – Croydon
15 May – Liverpool

In addition to the topic of sleep health and pain management, Perrigo will also offer bonus workshops at the sessions on how pharmacies can meet the ever-increasing demand for providing additional services. Perrigo will share advice from their centre of excellence, the Warman-Freed pharmacy, on how pharmacists can develop ways to find more time for additional services that can benefit patients’ health and drive pharmacy profits.

“Sleep deprivation is becoming more common, with as many as one in three people in the UK affected by insomnia”, said Lynette Roberts, training manager of Perrigo. “However, many people find their sleep problem unaddressed due to lack of knowledge, fear, and misunderstandings about sleep treatments. Our national seminar programme aims to help pharmacy staff learn more about sleep deprivation, treatments and advice in a practical, fun and entertaining way.”
