LPC flu vaccination promotion toolkit launched

LPC flu vaccination promotion toolkit launched

PSNC, Pharmacy Voice and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) have today joined forces to issue a shared resources toolkit to help LPCs to promote the flu vaccination Advanced Service to MPs and local councillors.

Arranging an MP or local councillor visit to a community pharmacy to showcase the service can be a great way to engage with local politicians as well as generating wider and media interest in it, said the organisations.

The LPC toolkit, available here, includes:

  • A how-to guide to organising an MP flu vaccination visit
  • A letter to send to the local MP or councillors
  • An invitation for the media
  • A template press release to promote the visit afterwards.

The pharmacy organisations have coordinated this work to provide LPCs with a single set of resources to make organising such a visit as straightforward as possible.

In a joint statement they said: €We expect community pharmacies to have given more than 150,000 flu vaccinations by the end of this week so it's clear that this new Advanced Service is going really well in many areas. Pharmacy teams and LPCs are obviously doing a brilliant job promoting the service within their local communities and we look forward to seeing this continue.

"Inviting an MP or councillor to a pharmacy to showcase the flu vaccination service is a great way to help promote the service and pharmacy to local politicians. If local media are also involved, then it can also help to promote it to the public to generate wider interest in the service. We hope these resources will make organising such a visit very easy for those LPCs who have not yet had a chance to contact local politicians about the service, and we look forward to hearing about some successful visits.€
