Alliance Healthcare UK raises £13,000 for charity

Alliance Healthcare colleagues, in association with Mylan, took to the River Thames in their latest fundraising challenge recently, raising over £13,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

The team of 15 set-off on a three-day challenge from Oxford and travelled over 60 miles by kayak before finally getting back on dry land in Royal Windsor.

The challenge caught the imagination of sponsors across the pharmaceutical industry including Strides Pharmaceutical, Pearl Chemist Group and many other suppliers, helping the team to smash its £10,000 fundraising target.

Two members from Breast Cancer Care attended the finish line event, where they were presented with a £13,000 cheque from the challengers.

“Earlier this year Alliance Healthcare announced Breast Cancer Care had become one of its chosen charities for 2018 and we couldn’t be happier with the support, enthusiasm and commitment from every one of the challengers and their colleagues, friends and families. Every 10 minutes, someone in the UK will hear the news that they have breast cancer. The diagnosis not only changes their lives forever, but also the lives of their family and friends,” said Charlotte Sills, Breast Cancer Care Community Fundraiser.

The team also organised a summer BBQ – football world cup themed, and a Pink Party at the Alliance Healthcare Support Centre in Chessington that included a popular bingo game to support raising funds towards the target.
