Pharmacists and other healthcare professionals have been advised to stop supplying a batch of mefenamic acid 500mg film-coated tablets immediately after a defect in the manufacturing process was discovered.
Quadrant Pharmaceuticals Ltd issued the recall of batch number 107082 because some tablets were found to have a defective layer of film coating, leaving their core partially exposed.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said healthcare professionals should quarantine all remaining stock and return it to their supplier using their supplier’s approved process.
The MHRA said “no further action” was required by patients because it is a pharmacy and wholesaler level recall.
