The NICE CKS suite covers the vaccine-preventable infections listed in Table 1.17

For each it sets out the advice for people travelling to areas endemic with the particular disease. But it also goes into further detail on the vaccines that may be required for pilgrimage to the Hajj or Umra (including against meningococcal meningitis), and for people who require vaccination at short notice.

Recommendations are based on expert opinion in the Department of Health/PHE publication 'Immunisation against infectious disease', better known as The Green Book. The CKS for each disease covers:

·       age vaccine can be used from;

·       indications for vaccinating;

·       available vaccines and vaccination schedules;

·       contraindications;

·       adverse effects from the vaccine;

·       route of administration.
