Second-generation' antihistamines have a much lower lipid solubility than first-generation compounds and do not cross the blood€“brain barrier to a significant extent, so exert little or no central activity. So while they cause little or no sedation, tests have shown them to be of no value as prophylaxis for motion sickness.
