The JCCP works closely with the Cosmetics Practice Standards Authority (CPSA) to set the Standards that cover cosmetics procedures and supports the register of approved practitioners run by the JCCP.10,12
The CPSA/JCCP Standards incorporate relevant requirements and expectations set out under various statutory regulations and in professional regulator standards, such as those issued by the GPhC.
Core expectations in the CPSA/JCCP Standards cover aspects such as:10,12

· - Duty of candour – to be open and honest when something goes wrong
· - Efficacy of treatments
· - Education and training, continuing professional development (CPD) and appraisal
· - Multidisciplinary team (MDT) working
· - Indemnity
· - Pre-employment checks such as practising privileges and Disclosure and Barring Service
· - Immunisation history if involved in direct patient care
· - Workplace health and safety and welfare
· - Supervision and accountability
· - Emergency care
· - Patient safety and safeguarding
· - Medicines management
· - Infection control
· - The patient journey
· - Medical records and information governance
· - Fees and advertising
While membership of the JCCP is a voluntary, it has a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Pharmaceutical Council. This says the JCCP will, if necessary, refer a pharmacy professional or pharmacy premises, or share information, if it has concerns about the provision of non-surgical cosmetic practice by the individual or business.9
