PV and Pfizer launch best practice publication

Pharmacy Voice and Pfizer Healthy Partnerships (PHP) have launched the first issue of ‘Talking Point,’ a series of publications to share best practice in community pharmacy.

The publication is targeted at commissioners and those working in the community pharmacy sector, aiming to inspire both audiences by outlining successful programmes, initiatives and individuals in the sector across England. It will be mailed to LPCs and directors of public health, and used by both Pharmacy Voice and PHP at conferences and events throughout the autumn.

Rob Darracott, chief executive of Pharmacy Voice, commented: “Pharmacy Voice has created Talking Point as a direct response to the many stakeholders in the NHS and beyond who recognise the potential in community pharmacy but told us they often struggle to find examples of best practice. The publication also responds to feedback from local pharmacy teams who have shared that it can be difficult to learn from other areas how to get great services off the ground. We hope that Talking Point, launched with Pfizer’s support, will inspire those who read it to see what is possible and ultimately to help secure better opportunities to provide more care for patients.”

Paul Wilson, commercial account director at Pfizer, commented: “Now more than ever before, it is widely recognised that pharmacists will play an increasingly integral role within our dynamic health service. However, there is work to be done to steer more appropriate use of primary care providers and easing pressure from urgent and emergency care networks. We hope this series of publications will assist in improving the integration of patient care in the community setting.”

The second issue of Talking Point will be published in January 2016. Pharmacy Voice welcomes submissions for inclusion in the publication.
