Omega plans 'learning pharmacy'

Omega Pharma has bought a pharmacy in London, with the intention of turning it into “the first ever fully functioning community learning pharmacy”.

Omega Pharma, “the fastest growing top four consumer healthcare company in the UK”, plans to install live testing capabilities across all areas of the Warman-Freed pharmacy in Golders Green to “help improve the consumer experience”. Brand new training for the whole pharmacy team Omega plans to use shoppers’ experiences to generate information about how the pharmacy is used by the local community and remodel it accordingly. Results will be shared with “everyone connected to community pharmacy”.

Liam Stapleton, the new superintendent of Warman-Freed, said: “Crucially, this project only exists because we are hoping to get an insight into how a typical community pharmacy operates. Our ultimate aim is for the work at Warman-Freed to generate learnings that can help improve services supporting better health across the entire country.”

As well as gathering shopper behaviour insights, Warman- Freed will be used as concept pharmacy, where customers and suppliers can test new lines or techniques before they are rolled out. “Never before will product and service testing have been conducted in a real pharmacy environment,” said Neil Lister, general manager of Omega Pharma UK.
