Best practice examples of a fully integrated community pharmacy network are showcased in the latest edition of ‘Talking Point’, a joint venture publication from Pharmacy Voice and Pfizer Healthy Partnerships.
Available to download as a free PDF, the publication highlights how the future vision for such a network, as presented in the Community Pharmacy Forward View, is already being tested and implemented by pharmacy teams across the country. It provides useful tips for building successful partnerships with other healthcare professionals, including GP practices, hospitals and care homes, and directs readers to other resources for additional advice and information.
Rob Darracott, Pharmacy Voice chief executive, says: “Through the development and implementation of sustainability and transformation plans, health and care leaders across the country are being asked to dramatically improve quality, outcomes, efficiency and productivity in services that are increasingly overstretched, with some now struggling to maintain standards and many facing major challenges in recruiting and retaining their workforce.
“While community pharmacy leaders clearly don’t have all the answers to these challenges, they can help to identify potential solutions. They certainly want to play a role alongside their colleagues in delivering the vision of a high quality, thriving NHS set out two and a half years ago in the Five Year Forward View. We are delighted to showcase some of the many different ways in which community pharmacies are already playing their part in the integration of local services, and to highlight what more they could do.â€
