Claire Bryce-Smith, the director for inspection, insight and intelligence at the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), revealed the regulator will start publishing its pharmacy inspection reports in the first quarter of 2019-20.
Addressing the Sigma conference in Oman, Bruce-Smith said improvement action plans will also be published “where appropriate” alongside inspection reports and the GPhC will publish “short examples of notable practice to drive continuous learning and improvement.” A new website will contain inspection outcomes and examples of notable practice.
“Inspections should reflect as closely as possible how patients and the public experience pharmacy services daily,” Bryce-Smith said.
She also reiterated the GPhC will take a 'proportionate and pragmatic approach' to pharmacists' implementation of the falsified medicines directive. The GPhC has been keen to stress this in recent weeks.
