Recall of paracetamol 500mg tablets
M & A Pharmachem is recalling certain batches of paracetamol 500mg tablets because “a small number of pots” have been contaminated with fungus.
The recall was announced by the MHRA on Thursday June 13. The watchdog said that batches 0110 and 0174 had been found to contain tablets that were discoloured from the contamination, but said “it is unlikely that any affected tablets will have got to patient level as the discolouration is noticeable on opening affected packs”.
All wholesalers and healthcare professionals are advised to stop supplying from these tablets immediately, and to quarantine remaining stock and return it to the supplier.
