Increase in October concession price for Risperidone

The PSNC has announced that last month’s price concession for a pack of 60 Risperidone 2mg tablets has risen to £20.

Pharmacy’s negotiator said the concession had been put in place for October only and added that “announcements about any November concessions will be made in due course.”

News of the increase drew a response on social media. Contractor and former National Pharmacy Association board member Mike Hewitson tweeted: “Concession fantasy from @DHSCgovuk (£20) for risperidone 2mg tabs vs pharmacy reality £42.72/60 tabs. How can we have faith in this system?”

The PSNC said: “This revised price will be automatically applied to any prescriptions for Risperidone 2mg tablets submitted in October prescription bundles.

“Originally imposed at a price of £1.80 by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), PSNC requested a review of the concessionary price on behalf of community pharmacy contractors.”
