Pharmacists administer over 0.75m flu vaccinations

Community pharmacists have now administered over 750,000 flu vaccinations during this season’s flu vaccination service, according to PSNC.

Data received yesterday from PharmOutcomes and Sonar Informatics confirmed that pharmacy teams had hit the 750,000 mark, although the total number of vaccinations administered will be even higher as some pharmacy teams are not using the electronic systems to record administration.

PSNC director of NHS services Alastair Buxton said: “This is another great milestone for the community pharmacy flu vaccination service. Pharmacy teams have continued to work hard over the last three months to build on the success of last year’s national flu vaccination service and this is clear to see in the number of vaccinations that have been delivered.

"Well done to all pharmacy contractors, pharmacy teams, LPCs and others for helping community pharmacy reach this milestone. This is a great achievement and I am looking forward to seeing this number continue to grow over the next four months.”
