Boots to reimburse half the cost of APTUK membership

Boots UK has said it will reimburse half the cost of each employees’ membership of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) for 2019-20.

The pledge applies to technicians working for the pharmacy chain in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

APTUK membership includes use of the post-nominal MAPharmT by qualified pharmacy technicians and access to advice on educational issues via their professional development team. Full membership is £48 but it is free for pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians.

“I am delighted that Boots are promoting and encouraging the merits of becoming a member of the professional leadership body for pharmacy technicians,” said APTUK president Liz Fidler.

“The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK has a range of tools to support professional development and actively encourages attendance at local branches. The Association is keen to work with Boots pharmacy technicians to support developing a virtual branch.

“I would encourage pharmacy technicians employed by Boots to utilise this amazing offer, which will enable professional development support and enable a stronger voice for pharmacy technicians working in this sector.”

Boots UK said: “APTUK supports person-centred professionalism through encouraging members to have the attitudes and behaviours associated with outstanding healthcare professionals. It works on behalf of pharmacy technicians to advocate for the profession and advance education and scope of practice.”
