Suzanne Scott-Thomas re-elected chair of Welsh Board

Suzanne Scott-Thomas: "We are in a strong position to achieve our aims"

Suzanne Scott-Thomas has been re-elected to serve a second term as chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board,  while Paul Harris has been re-elected as vice-chair and Royal Pharmaceutical Society Assembly member.

Ms Scott-Thomas said: “I really am delighted to be re-elected as Chair of the Welsh Pharmacy Board for a second term and to serve our members in Wales. Reflecting on my first term, I can’t help but feel that it truly was a landmark 12 months for the RPS and pharmacy as a whole in Wales. Over this period we held our largest ever medicines safety conference attracting a wide range of health professions, developed our policy vision for Wales to influence the party political manifestos, as well as individual policies on models of care for pharmacy within primary care clusters and improving medicines use for care home residents.

“The next 12 months promises to be just as busy and exciting. Once again we will be hosting a multidisciplinary medicines safety conference, producing a new policy on our profession’s role in chronic conditions management and we will continue to engage with government, opposition political parties and NHS Wales to ensure that our calls to action are heard and implemented. At the heart of our work will be a strong commitment our members so that they are able to reach their full potential and to make full use of the new opportunities open to pharmacists in Wales.

“Matching and improving on the achievements of the last 12 months will undoubtedly require a lot of hard work. However, the Welsh Pharmacy Board is made up of a fantastic team of pharmacists from a range of sectors who have a deep passion to provide the patients in Wales with the highest level of pharmaceutical care. I feel that we are in a strong position to achieve our aims for the benefit of our members, profession and patients and look forward to the privilege working with my Board colleagues again during my next term as Chair”
