September registration exam pass rate up to 64%

The GPhC has announced the pass rate for the September 2015 registration exam was 64 per cent, a 3 per cent increase on the September 2014 result

Of the 976 pre-registration pharmacists who sat the exam in September 2015, 294 were sitting the exam for the first time, 622 sat for the second time and 60 for the third time. The pass rate for first-time entrants was 56 per cent, for second-time entrants it was 69 per cent, and for those sitting the exam for the third time it was 52 per cent.

Duncan Rudkin, Chief Executive of the GPhC, said: “The registration assessment remains an important tool for us to ensure that only those candidates who have the knowledge and skills to practise safely and effectively can join the register. We will be making a number of important changes to the registration assessment from 2016 to make sure the assessment takes advantage of current education best practice to enable trainees to better demonstrate the competencies set out in the learning outcomes.”

More information about the registration assessment is available on the GPhC website.
