Pharmacists invited to apply for research awards

Pharmacy Research UK is inviting pharmacists to apply for its 2016 research awards and bursaries.

In line with its objective to promote public health by educating pharmacists, PRUK has two funding schemes that aim to develop research capacity and capability in pharmacy. Its Personal Research Awards and Research Training Bursaries provide funding for novice and early-career researchers.

Previous recipients have undertaken research in areas such as public health, health economics, infection management, organisational psychology and over the counter prescribing.

The closing date for the Personal Research Awards and the Research Training Bursaries is May 4. Interviews for both schemes will take place in London on July 11 and 12. Further information and application forms are available from the PRUK website.

In partnership with the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association, PRUK is also offering a research fund of up to £40,000 to support pharmacists who want to develop their research skills in an area of clinical practice, build relationships with the academic community, attend formal training programmes and seek mentors. While the quality of applications is of paramount importance, priority will be given to lead applicants for whom this will be their first research project as a principal investigator.

The funds available are for two projects up to £20,000. The deadline for submitting a bid is May 4.
