Pharmacists aim for 100,000 flu vaccinations

London pharmacists are aiming to complete 100,000 flu vaccinations over the next five months.

This would build on the success of last year’s campaign, in which pharmacists vaccinated 76,000 Londoners. The service is available to any eligible person living, working or studying in the Capital. Many people who are eligible for the flu vaccination will this year also be able to receive a vaccination against pneumonia.

Jaypharm Pharmacy in Thamesmead vaccinated 531 patients last year. Superintendent pharmacist Sunil Bajaria said: “Many of the patients who visit the pharmacy for the vaccine come to the pharmacy because of the accessibility and speed and use of the service when they come in to collect repeat prescriptions.” Last year, more than 2,000 people who were not registered with a GP were vaccinated across London.
