Derbyshire’s LPC has created an interactive online map to help patients find their nearest pharmacy flu jab provider.

All a patient needs to do is paste the web link into an internet search engine and they will be able to locate the pharmacy closest to their home. The map is featured on the Derbyshire LPC website and numerous news releases have been issued across the county to online news desks and community websites with links to the interactive locator.

Two thirds of all pharmacy contractors in Derby and Derbyshire (146 out of 217) have registered to provide the service, which requires them to have undergone special training and to have a private room for administering the flu vaccine. John Sargeant, chair of Community Pharmacy Derbyshire, which represents all the county’s pharmacists, said: “Vaccinations are vital to protect people for whom seasonal flu is a real danger. Pharmacists are well placed to undertake this work. It’s another example of how essential community pharmacy is to the health of our population."
