Lincolnshire pharmacy marks 25,000th delivery

A Lincolnshire pharmacy has celebrated a delivery landmark with a special presentation to its 25,000th patient.

The Beacon Pharmacy in Ingoldmells has been delivering prescriptions since it opened in 2012. It employs three drivers to deliver to 400 customers a week in Burgh Le Marsh, Hogsthorpe, Mumby, Skegness, Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards.

The pharmacy's 25,000th customers Sharon and Jim Hall are pictured receiving flowers and a hamper from pharmacy manager Sophie Kirk (right) and delivery driver Rachel Barker (second right).

Ms Kirk said the service proved a lifeline for many people who found it hard to make their own way to a chemist. “For many people transport or health can be a problem which makes it really difficult to make a journey to a pharmacy yet their prescriptions are absolutely vital for them,” she said. “So we decided to offer a delivery service the day we opened and it has just grown and grown. To reach a milestone of 25,000 is incredible. We are delighted we have managed to help so many people."

Mr and Mrs Hall said they were surprised and delighted to be the 25,000th customers. Mr Hall has Parkinson’s Disease, which makes it very difficult for the couple from Skegness to get out to collect prescriptions.

“It’s a lovely surprise. I can’t believe the pharmacy has completed so many home deliveries,” said Mrs Hall. “We couldn’t manage without the service. The people are always so friendly and if we ever have a problem we know we can rely on them.”
