GSK becomes world's largest OTC manufacturer

GSK has become the world’s largest OTC manufacturer, with over £6bn worth of sales, following the joint venture between GSK Consumer Healthcare and Novartis OTC.

The new-look consumer healthcare business is a world leader in pain relief and respiratory, number one in specialist oral health and holds market leading positions in skin health, nutrition and gastrointestinal. Combining the businesses has brought together a portfolio of brands, including Sensodyne, Panadol, Aquafresh, Corsodyl, Maxi, Voltarol, Otrivine, Nicotinell, Excedrin and Savlon. These brands have a heritage of over 160 years and a footprint that spans more than 100 countries.

GSK Consumer Healthcare Northern Europe (Great Britain, Ireland, Nordics and Benelux) will be led by Carlton Lawson, who has been appointed as area general manager. Mr Lawson joined GSK in 2008 and held roles in GSK Oral Health Global Category before being appointed general manager Consumer Healthcare Great Britain and Ireland in 2013. Darren Folker, former General Manager for Novartis in Benelux, has been appointed as sales director for Great Britain.
