Nearly 20 per cent of all independent pharmacies in England will have access to the Check34 prescription data analysis tool within a fortnight, according to the NPA.

Following a successful pre-launch phase during which the set-up process has been optimised, a dedicated subscription process for NPA members goes live this week. Already 430 NPA members representing 1,100 pharmacies, had registered and are due to receive activation emails over the following two weeks. The NPA’s target is for all member pharmacies that wish to use the system to be enabled by the autumn. Independents outside NPA membership can also register through the NPA.

Nick Kaye, superintendent of Narrowcliff Pharmacy in Cornwall and one of the first to use the system in its test phase, said: “It is exciting that so many pharmacies can now begin to enjoy the benefits – quick access to very useful data, served up as easy to digest business knowledge. It is so important to get a clear sight of our business performance, and to be more certain that we are being accurately remunerated by the NHS.”

Developed by PSNC, Check34 is an online software solution that tracks a number of key performance indicators based on the FP34 Schedule of Payment. It helps contractors to assess their prescription business performance and reassure themselves that they are being accurately remunerated by the NHS.
